AREAS OF CONCERN

Last update: juillet 01, 2011

In accordance with step3 of the "Ways of Progressing the Work of the S-23 WG", as agreed at the 1st meeting of the S-23 WG (Monaco, June 2009), the IHB circulated a list of possible "areas of concern" with IHB e-mail of 8 July 2009, asking WG members to review and comment on the list.

Responses were received from Australia, Japan, Rep. of Korea, Singapore, South Africa and USA (step 4). They are contained in the Compendium of Replies to the above mentioned e-mail. WG members did not proposed any other "area of concern" and the initial list therefore remains valid.

Meanwhile, India confirmed its position, as indicated in section 2 of the "areas of concern" list. See India's letter of 5 November 2009.

In accordance with step 5, IHB letter S3/7020 of 9 November 2009 was sent to WG members, inviting them to further comment on the "areas of concern" list, as appropriate. IHB also consulted those MS bordering "areas of concern" and which are not represented in the S-23 WG.

Comments were received from Argentina, China, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea (D.P.R. of), Korea (Rep. of), Malaysia and USA. They are contained in the Compendium of Replies to IHB letter of 9 November 2009 (9.5 Mb).

In accordance with step 6, the IHB drafted a Report on the Status and Progress of the Work of the S-23 WG, based on all comments expressed on the areas of concern. This included a proposal for the 2nd S-23 WG meeting to take place on 5-7 July 2010 in the East Asia region.
