In 2009, the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) agreed to task the Sub-Committee on Radiocommunications and Search and Rescue (COMSAR) to undertake a “Scoping exercise to establish the need for a review of the elements and procedures of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)”. This exercise resulted in a work plan on the review and modernization of the GMDSS agreed by MSC at its 90th session in 2012. This task is now coordinated by the Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR) and calls on the views of expert organizations, of which IHO WWNWS-SC is a key contributor. |

En 2009, le Comité de la sécurité maritime (MSC) de l’Organisation maritime internationale (OMI) décida de charger le sous-comité des radiocommunications et de la recherche et du sauvetage (COMSAR) d’entreprendre un « Exercice permettant de déterminer la nécessité d'une révision des éléments et procédures du Système mondial de détresse et de sécurité en mer (SMDSM) et d'en définir la portée ». Cet exercice aboutit à un plan de travail sur le réexamen et la modernisation du SMDSM adopté par le MSC lors de sa 90ème réunion en 2012. Cette tâche est maintenant coordonnée par le sous-comité de la navigation, des communications et de la recherche et du sauvetage (NCSR) et fait appel aux vues des organisations expertes, dont le sous-comité SMAN de l’OHI est l’un des principaux contributeurs. |
