TFT "Training for the Trainer Programme "

The TFT is designed to prepare trainers in the hydrographic related subjects. The trainer will then deliver specific training programmes in their own country, in their mother tongue and using their expertise.

Participants of the TFT programme are expected to have extensive knowledge and experience in the relevant area. They are expected to have some experience in teaching and training.

The TFT can be applied to all types of training programmes. However TFT has been focused on hydrographic surveying and nautical charting.

Concept of TFT

The TFT provides basic knowledge and training skills in hydrographic related subjects during a one to two week period. Participants will be exposed to teaching methodology and teaching material development. They will also have the opportunity to cooperate together and use the TFT network for the development of training materials.

The TFT recipient will be required to offer the basic course to junior staff members and will help them obtain necessary job-specific skills within a short period of time. This can be key to addressing the lack of human resources in the hydrographic field.

TFT outline

In Week 1 (or prior to the commencement of the TFT programme), all trainer candidates who will be involved in the development of training materials and teaching plans will get together for a brainstorming session and further improve the course syllabus whilst reflecting each nation's needs.

For the rest of the TFT programme, the trainer candidates will work on teaching methodology associated with chart production and hydrographic survey and develop course materials based on their individual background and the needs of their organizations.
